Responsible gaming: PLAY AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IT

In accordance with the provisions of the current Games of Chance Act and subordinate legislation, the company Germania Sport d.o.o., Radnička 34/A, Zagreb, PIN: 75632766837, represented by Ivan Korać, Director (hereinafter referred to as the "Organizer"), hereby enacts the following

PRINCIPLES OF RESPONSIBLE ORGANIZATION OF GAMES OF CHANCE AND RESPONSIBLE PARTICIPATION IN GAMES OF CHANCE

Introductory Provisions

Germania Sport d.o.o. as the organizer of games of chance endeavors to enable players to engage in games of chance in a safe and lawful manner and to prevent or minimize the harmful consequences of excessive participation in games of chance. Participation in games of chance itself is not a problem, but excessive gambling can lead to addiction and social problems. Therefore, responsible gaming and organizing games of chance are one of the fundamental principles of game organization, which implies establishing a balance between profit, entertainment, player expectations, and the suppression of addictive behavior. In this sense, the Organizer takes measures and efforts to promote responsible game organization and to mitigate the negative and unwanted effects of participating in games of chance. As part of socially responsible game organization, one of the primary tasks of the Organizer is to protect the interests of players and vulnerable social groups by providing the necessary information needed to make the right decision regarding participation in games of chance, to combat addictive behavior and its negative social impact.

Protection of Minors

These Principles specifically emphasize the prohibition of participation in games of chance for persons under the age of 18. The protection of minors by the Organizer is carried out by displaying signs of prohibition in its branches, on gaming machines, and on its website, educating employees about the prohibition of participation in games of chance by persons under 18 years of age, and providing information about the possible harmful consequences of participating in games of chance, especially those organized by the Organizer. Parents or guardians of minors are also advised to restrict access to computers for individuals under 18 and to install protective systems on computers to restrict access to certain websites to prevent participation in games of chance for persons under the age of 18.

Rules of Responsible Participation in Games of Chance

Responsible gaming implies that the player is aware that the sole purpose of participating in games of chance is entertainment. Therefore, the player should not be driven by the desire to make a profit in games of chance. Furthermore, before starting to play, the player must accept the possibility of losing. At all times, the player must be aware that excessive gambling can lead to the development of gambling addiction.

Below are the rules that every player should adhere to when participating in games of chance:

  • Participate in games of chance solely for the purpose of entertainment.
  • Before starting to participate in games of chance, clearly define a limit on the amount of money you are willing to spend on the game and do not change it.
  • Consider any winnings as a prize, and any money you lose as the cost of your entertainment.
  • Determine in advance which period of time you are willing to dedicate to participating in games of chance, and stop playing immediately when that time expires, regardless of whether you are winning or losing.
  • Before starting to participate in games of chance, be aware that the odds of losing are greater than the odds of winning.
  • Do not participate in games of chance on credit or with borrowed money.
  • Do not participate in games of chance for the wrong reasons (to avoid problems, make a profit, etc.).
  • Do not allow your participation in games of chance to negatively affect your family, social, or business life.
  • Do not attempt to recover the lost money from games of chance, as your losses are likely to increase the more you try to make up for them.
  • Familiarize yourself with the signs of compulsive and excessive participation in games of chance to recognize them in a timely manner and to stop participating in games of chance. Additionally, help others if you notice these signs of behavior.

Self-Assessment Questionnaire to Prevent Excessive Participation in Games of Chance

If a player notices any problems arising from their participation in games of chance (e.g., the sole goal of playing is to make a profit or recover lost money, borrowing money to participate in games, playing causing stress, inability to set a limit for game participation, etc.), we highly recommend the player to seek for professional help.

Below is a list of questions taken from the „Anonymous Gamblers“ association, which should be answered with YES or NO for the purpose of self-assessment of potential excessive participation in games of chance:

  • Have you ever missed work, school, college, or neglected your obligations due to participation in games of chance?
  • Has participation in games of chance negatively affected your family life?
  • Has participation in games of chance negatively affected your social reputation?
  • Have you ever felt guilty after participating in games of chance?
  • Have you ever participated in games of chance in order to obtain money to pay bills or solve other financial difficulties?
  • Has participation in games of chance led to a decrease in your ambitions or efficiency?
  • After losing, have you ever felt the need to recover the lost amount as soon as possible?
  • After winning, have you had a strong urge to win more?
  • Have you ever participated in games of chance until you spent your last euro?
  • Have you ever borrowed money to participate in games of chance?
  • Have you ever sold something in order to have money for participating in games of chance?
  • Have you used winnings or money intended for games of chance for regular living expenses with reluctance?
  • Has participation in games of chance ever made you careless and neglect your well-being and/or the well-being of your family?
  • Have you ever participated in games of chance for longer than you had planned?
  • Do games of chance serve as an „escape“ from worries, difficulties, boredom, or loneliness for you?
  • Have you ever considered or thought about committing an unlawful act to gather money for participation in games of chance?
  • Have thoughts about games of chance ever caused disturbances in your sleep?
  • Do arguments, disappointments, or frustrations increase your need to participate in games of chance?
  • Do you feel the urge to celebrate a happy event by „treating yourself“ with several hours of participation in games of chance?
  • Have you ever contemplated suicide due to problems caused by participation in games of chance?

If you answered YES to any of the questions listed above, we advise you to carefully participate in games of chance in the future in order to prevent excessive participation.

If you answered YES to at least seven questions, we recommend that you consider contacting institutions that provide assistance to individuals with gambling addiction problems.

Stake Limits and Self-Exclusion Procedure

Every player has the right to request stake limits or self-exclusion from the Organizer. It can be done in written form by completing the Request for Self-Exclusion or Stake Limitation form available on the Organizer's website www.germaniasport.hr and at the bookmaker's payment points and slot clubs. In other words, a player can request that the Organizer limits the amount of money they can spend on bets within a specified time frame, as determined by the player, or permanently excludes the player from participating.

In the Request for Self-Exclusion or Stake Limitation, the player must enter their personal information and specify the period during which the self-exclusion or stake limitation will be applied. Along with the written request, the player is required to attach a copy of their ID.

The player can submit the completed Request for Self-Exclusion or Stake Limitation form to the Organizer via E-Mail at [email protected], hand it to an Organizer employee at any bookmaker's payment point or slot club, or send it to the Organizer's headquarters at Germania Sport d.o.o., Radnička 34a, 10000 Zagreb.

If the player is unable to fill out the Organizer's request form, they can submit their request to the Organizer in a different format, indicating at least the following information:

  • Player's full name
  • Player's username
  • Type of limitation to be applied
  • Period of limitation, specifying the start and end dates of the limitation, or indication of a request for permanent exclusion
  • The limited amount of stakes or losses

The player can submit this request to the Organizer in the same way as the completed Request for Self-Exclusion or Stake Limitation form, along with a copy of their ID.

When the player reaches the set limit for their bets, the Organizer automatically blocks the player's account. After the expiration of the time period specified by the player for the limitation, the account is automatically unblocked, and the player can participate in betting without restrictions.

Organizer's employees have the right to take all necessary actions in slot clubs and at bookmaker's payment points to identify the person who requested the self-exclusion/stake limitation, deny them access to the game, and remove them from the premises where games of chance are organized.

The player who has requested self-exclusion/stake limitation is fully responsible for its implementation. The player waives all rights to hold the Organizer and its employees responsible in case of a failure to execute the self-exclusion/stake limitation procedure, and in case the player participates in the game despite self-exclusion.

Self-exclusion/stake limitation applies until the expiration of the period during which the player requested self-exclusion/stake limitation on the Request form, or until it is revoked.

The player can request the revocation of the self-exclusion/stake limitation by sending a request for revocation to the Organizer's email address or by submitting a request to the manager of the slot club or bookmaker's payment point.
